This EPCC contract was awarded to AKT Oil Services Company on the 18th April 2017. The primary scope of the project was the decommissioning and replacement of the existing 3.7 km x 24” carbon steel pipeline (stream 291) from Markazia to Janubia.

This EPCC contract was awarded to AKT Oil Services Company on the 18th April 2017.

The primary scope of the project was the decommissioning and replacement of the existing 3.7 km x 24” carbon steel pipeline (stream 291) from Markazia to Janubia.

Mechanical and civil Scope.

1. The replacement of the decommissioned pipeline with a new 3.75 km x 18” pipeline.

2. The construction and installation of the pipeline pig trap end facilities at both ends of the newly constructed pipeline.

3. Fabrication and construction of adjoining 24” station piping to connect the new pipeline to the existing compressor stations.

4. Structural support and installations at the pig trap stations on the newly constructed pipeline.

5. Pig trap area fencing, land grading and drain system construction.

Electrical & Instrumentation Scope:

1. To design, construct and install a remotely controlled automated High integrity pipeline protection system (PLC controlled HIPPS) at both ends of the pipeline.

2. To install lighting fixtures at the two pig trap stations of the newly constructed pipeline.

3. To design and install a cathodic protection system on the pipeline.

The WORK consisted of all activities required for the successful construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning of the new pipeline.

The newly constructed pipeline was successfully commissioned on the 23rd of November 2017.
